La Palmera

The La Palmera project involved converting an existing one million square-foot mall into an open court “lifestyle” center and included extensive upgrades for the numerous tenants of the Food Court.

As with any kitchen facility, the primary critical success factor was early coordination of MEP systems. The location of grease traps and tie-ins to the sanitary waste system are key issues that can create unpleasant ripple effects if the team fails to plan early. We wanted to incorporate as many landlord-provided amenities as possible before the flow of construction activities rendered those “on the fly” changes unfeasible. And, it was imperative that we work closely and often with the tenant coordinator to quickly implement tenant-driven changes to gas, sanitary, domestic water, and power systems without impacting the overall project schedule.
