Over the past 25 years, Pape Fall has shaped his career at Hoar through dedication, growth, and commitment to people. Read how that focus has guided his experience and the people around him.
What is your position and how long have you been working at Hoar?
I’m VP of QAQC, which stands for Quality Assurance and Quality Control. I’ve been with Hoar for 25 years.
How did you get started in the industry?
Really, it happened accidentally. I was finishing school and was looking for a part-time job, and Hoar was hiring. I got hired as a part-time laborer and fell in love with it.
What is the best part of your job?
I’d say the people. I love the industry, don’t get me wrong, but I really love the people I work with and the relationships that I’ve developed over 25 years. Every day I come to work, I’m hanging out with friends. We’re solving complex and fun challenges together.
What has kept you at Hoar or what is the best part of working at Hoar?
Besides the people, no two days are alike. I think I’m probably one of the luckiest people at this company because I get to see everything we do. Most people, whether they’re project managers or field leaders, work on one project for an extended period, sometimes up to two years. In that same two years, I’ll have probably seen 80 projects. I get to move around, see a lot of people, and check out a lot of cool buildings.
Hoar’s goal is to build people first. Have you experienced that support in your career?
Absolutely. From a training standpoint, and from learning by being around the Aubrey Logans of the world — folks that have been doing it a lot longer than I have, have tremendous knowledge, really cared about my development, and pushed me. That kind of mentorship sets an expectation, and you can’t remain stagnant, or you just won’t advance. I’m also curious by nature, so all those aspects, in my opinion, push you to keep learning and never stop pushing for improvement.
