WestWind Hangar

Assembling the right team makes all the difference. When unexpected distractions occur, having a Hoar team skilled in planning makes the difference in finishing late or finishing ahead of schedule.

On the WestWind Hangar project, we incurred 50-plus days of weather-related delays. Due to these delays, we identified the subcontractors who could make the biggest impact on recovering lost time. First, we asked the building erector to essentially relocate his entire office and field staff to Huntsville to dedicate 100% of their time to the project. This ensured we had the most skilled staff possible to oversee this portion of the work. With the right team in place, we also looked for additional time-saving techniques. Since rain delayed the pouring of the slabs, we had less time for curing. As a solution, the team placed a sealant on the slabs that prevented moisture transmission and allowed us to install the epoxy floor coating on time. We also completed the work related to the epoxy flooring at night when all other trades were gone. By assembling the best team and incorporating timesaving methods, the weather delays were overcome and the project finished ahead of schedule.
