Encompass Health Cypress

On Encompass Health Cypress, the structural and civil packages were awarded early accelerating the overall project schedule. Structural steel detailing was released before Christmas, which allowed the steel contractor to begin fabrication and guaranteed that steel would be onsite when needed in early February.

This allowed the project to pick up four weeks compared to the original schedule. We also identified and implemented Lean prefabrication techniques into the project schedule. For example, we prefabricated the underslab plumbing piping and cast iron plumbing rough-in above the slabs in the patient bathrooms. These two items were on the critical path, and the prefabrication of these items picked up two weeks on the schedule. We also took a proactive approach to coordinating subcontractors and vendors. By conducting detailed weekly scheduling meetings with all superintendents and project managers, Hoar created buy in for an accelerated schedule. This motivation carried on throughout the project, allowing us to turn the project over to the owner four weeks ahead of schedule.
