Meet Our Experts: Chase Mintrone

by | Feb 2, 2023 | Insights, People

The people who plan, manage, and build our projects are all experts in their field, and an integral part of our company’s success. Chase Mintrone is a senior superintendent who is leading our Florida Healthcare Group. Get to know more about him in just 8 questions.

1. What’s your current day-to-day look like?

My day typically starts with communicating with my field teams to ensure their needs are met on our respective projects. During this time, I will assist them with any issues or questions they may have to ensure the projects are operating optimally and on schedule. Then I will review our processes for each project and track that we are following through with the correct documentation and correspondence. The in-between changes each day depending on what is scheduled on each job and what issues/questions arise throughout the day or previous day. Usually, I will follow up on some business development opportunities to better track future staffing needs and also cater to our owners to ensure we maintain the highest standards with our teams.

2. What’s the one lesson you’ve learned in this industry that’s stuck with you?

Throughout my career the one lesson that has always stuck with me and has been proven repeatedly, is that it always pays to do what is right the first time. Taking a shortcut may seem like the easy fix or easy solution in the moment, but it will come back around later in a project in the form of lost time and/or money. Apart from cost and schedule, it goes so much further with our owners, inspectors, design team, representatives, etc. to be able to handle and communicate issues the right way up front.

3. What is your proudest accomplishment?

I’m very proud of the life that my wife, Leslie, and I have built together; we have two really great kids. Professionally, it was discovering my ability to manage campus healthcare projects which allowed me to vastly expand and grow within healthcare construction.

4. How did you get started in the industry?

I was raised in a family that was construction oriented. I was intrigued very early on and through that, I grew fond of the building process and learned that I was mechanically inclined. Naturally, I explored Engineering and Construction and developed a genuine passion for Construction Management.

5. What do you like most about working at Hoar?

When I joined Hoar, I knew immediately I was where I needed to be. I’m often surrounded by the most genuine and kind people. Their support and trust allows me to lead our Florida Healthcare Group with great confidence.

6. What’s the last thing you did to make a project run smoother?

We took a deep dive into lessons learned and applied them to the project. This is a great practice to give any project the best chance of not repeating something that had a negative effect in the past.

7. What’s the best part of your job?

The freedom to be creative and innovative. Whether it’s something as simple as logical solutions to everyday construction matters or producing new ideas that better showcase our brand in the field.

8. What’s your favorite movie?

The Bourne franchise.
