Jacksonville Commissary
Hoar Construction served as general contractor for the new commissary and Navy Exchange renovation at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida. The facility was developed by the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA).
The project included the construction of a 116,000 square-foot commissary, which serves active military personnel, retirees, and their families stationed in the NAS Jacksonville area. Hoar’s scope of work included the 93,000 square-foot renovation of the existing Naval Air Station Exchange, a 11,400 square-foot addition, a 250-space expansion to the parking lot, and exterior site improvements.
To keep the Exchange operational, we scheduled work on the loading docks so two remained available to DeCA at all times. While DeCA used the two docks to receive deliveries, we worked on the others. Our team met weekly to coordinate the work and invited the store manager to participate to keep him fully informed. Our goal was to keep operations at the Exchange uninterrupted and profitable.
