One Bellevue Place
In 1989 Hoar Construction built Bellevue Center Mall in Bellevue (Nashville), Tennessee. With the demolition of that mall complete, Hoar served as construction manager for the redevelopment of this site. The project included construction of 348,000 square feet of retail space.
Hoar provided construction management services for the 87-acre redevelopment of the former Bellevue Center Mall located in Bellevue (Nashville), TN. We built the original development, Bellevue Center Mall, in 1989, and almost 30 years later, we completed One Bellevue Place, a replacement for the original mall. In its entirety, One Bellevue Place includes approximately 348,000 square feet of new retail space, 337 multifamily units, a 111-room Hilton Home2 Suites Hotel, and approximately 350,000 SF of office. Hoar is responsible for the retail portion of the development which contains a mix of tenants, including Carmike Theater, Sprouts Farmers Market, and other restaurants and national retailers.
Constructing a large mixed-use development in a tight time frame is certainly a challenge; building it in the middle of Nashville winter filled with freezing temperatures and rain can make things seem impossible. Certain trades such as masonry and concrete can be significantly affected by weather, as adhesive materials don’t properly bond below 40 degrees; however, our commitment to delivering the project the following summer meant we couldn’t afford to lose a season of productivity. Our team sought creative ways to continue to lay block and pour concrete through cold conditions. By filling a 55-gallon barrel every morning with water and using a torpedo heater to keep the water warm throughout the day, our trade partners had readily available water and were able to continue their work without any interruption.
