Samford University Reid, Burns, and Chapman Hall
With the schedule being tight for the project – having to turn over Reid Chapel in just four months from the start of demolition, coordination with trade partners was crucial.
We brought in trade partners early in the preconstruction phase to help with providing information on the most cost-effective and schedule-appeasing measures. Trade partners were able to make suggestions to the owner and architect while the project was still being designed in order to avoid a delay in schedule later in the project due to changes.
This project consists of the demolition and build-out of two large areas and a refresh of the existing Reid Chapel. Upgrades to the chapel included plaster repair, fire protection, HVAC system upgrades, pew refinishing, steeple repair, and sound system and lighting upgrades. The two existing halls – Burns and Chapman – were reconfigured to house the Howard College of Arts and Sciences. In addition, we made renovations to Russell Hall, the new home for world languages and cultures, as well as the ground and first floors of Ingalls Hall, which is now the new home of admission and student financial services.
