The Troy Multi Sports Complex features a rotunda at one corner of the building. We realized early on that no amount of dimensions on the drawings could accurately account for all conditions where “round must meet square.”
As a result, we started rotunda construction first, leaving plenty of time to resolve dimensional or other issues. We met often to give team members the opportunity to ask questions such as, “What is the proper method to insert a straight window into a round wall while ensuring it seals properly and has the desired appearance?” In these meetings we were able to address unique conditions, solve unknowns, and communicate decisions to the subcontractors and suppliers. The result was a beautiful round structure set into a square building that pleases the owner and exceeds even the architect’s stringent expectations.
