1. What does your day-to-day look like?
My typical schedule is:
1. Coffee
2. Project and Team Member Support and Check-In
3. Client and Trade Partner outreach
4. Planning
5. Coffee again
6. Meetings and more meetings
7. Emails and Phone Calls
2. What’s the one lesson you’ve learned in this industry that’s stuck with you?
Plan your work and work your plan
3. Describe the last challenge/problem you solved on the job.
We just completed a recent Charter School project where the schedule was extremely tight. As we were testing the fire alarm, we found a significant issue resulting in a large amount of re-work to get the system integrated and in sync with the existing system. Buying the crew a steak dinner settled the nerves, cleared everyone’s mind, and gave motivation for the team to stay late to resolve the issue so we could pass our inspection the next morning.
4. How did you get started in the industry?
I fell in love with construction helping my WW2 Hero grandfather as a kid on small projects around his house. Then I got the itch after learning more about Engineering and Construction my first year in college.
5. What’s the best part of your job?
Watching people grow into great leaders and molding the next generation to take their place is very rewarding.
6. What’s your favorite band or song?
Red Back Hymnal #57 – “Amazing Grace.” But I’m a big fan of George Strait too.
7. What’s your hidden talent?
Church Youth Director. Who would have ever imagined?
8. What’s your favorite movie?
Too many to name but definitely a fan of the Rocky series – “Yo, Adrian – I Did It.” That’s a classic!
9. What’s your fondest memory from your time with Hoar Construction?
Watching the Medley and Boehringer Ingleheim teams crush it and represent the Hoar name every day jumps out in a very memorable way.
10. What’s your proudest accomplishment?
Personally, my family – Paula, Emma, and Luke – make me prouder every day.
Professionally, I am humbled and extremely honored by the opportunity to lead and grow our Atlanta Division and work with amazing people every day.
