Buffalo Rock is close to completing its massive distribution campus project off Lakeshore Parkway.
The Birmingham headquartered Pepsi bottling company’s $92.75 million investment to expand its operations is looking toward the spring for completion of the project.
Project BOLD will create 50 new jobs and feature new technology to allow the company to compete with other beverage companies and manufacturers located near the Lakeshore corridor.
HOAR Program Management and HOAR Construction continue to help Buffalo Rock bring the 77-acre campus to life.
The $20 million Vertique automated 4-lane pick system successfully started up in December 2021 and is expected to be fully operational by the end of January.
The 64-acre warehouse component will house the company’s distribution center. The office component of Project BOLD extends across 13 acres and will serve as Buffalo Rock’s central office. The company expect the office building to be fully occupied by the end of March when construction is scheduled to be completed. Buffalo Rock’s headquarters is currently located at 111 Oxmoor Road Birmingham, Alabama 35209.
The beverage company acquired over one million square feet of combined warehouse and office space along Lakeshore Parkway in 2020 for nearly $40 million to house its new headquarters.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is tentatively planned for April or May. Attendees will be able to get a sneak peek inside of the new facility.
The city of Birmingham, Birmingham City Council, Jefferson County Commission and the city of Homewood have all shown support for Project BOLD. Buffalo Rock has operated in the city of Birmingham since 1901.
