Dodd will work to strengthen Hoar’s healthcare platform across all Texas markets

Hoar Construction today announced the hiring of Synjyn Dodd as director of healthcare. This strategic appointment reflects Hoar’s continued growth and commitment to expanding its healthcare services across Texas.

With more than 20 years of experience, Dodd brings a rare combination of healthcare operations experience and construction leadership. Throughout his career, he has led teams responsible for more than $10 billion in healthcare projects, ranging from hospital campuses to specialized treatment facilities. Most recently, as vice president of construction at Medxcel, he oversaw a multibillion-dollar portfolio of hospital and healthcare projects across 19 states for Ascension Health. He began his career as a hospital corpsman in the U.S. Navy and later served as a paramedic in St. Vincent’s Emergency Department before transitioning into operations and construction.

“Synjyn understands healthcare from the inside out and brings a disciplined, strategic approach to building and leading high-performing teams,” said Brady Johnson, Region President at Hoar. “His insight and leadership will be critical as we continue to grow our healthcare platform in Texas and nationwide.”

In his new role, Dodd will lead the continued expansion of Hoar’s healthcare platform in Texas, strengthening relationships and identifying opportunities in high-demand markets. Drawing on his background in both clinical care and construction leadership, Dodd will help guide projects from early planning through delivery, ensuring facilities align with clients’ operational goals and long-term strategies.

“Healthcare systems across the country are experiencing unprecedented demand as populations grow and care models continue to evolve,” said Dodd. “Hoar has built an exceptional reputation for delivering complex projects, and I’m looking forward to expanding our healthcare platform to support that demand and the communities we serve.”

Hoar Construction has established itself as one of the nation’s leading healthcare builders, completing nearly $1.5 billion in healthcare projects over the past 10 years. Recent projects include Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas, The University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston Emergency Department and MD Anderson Cancer Center Northwest Houston Surgical and Specialty Care.
