Hoar Construction has broken ground on the Campus Recreation, Wellness and Athletic Complex for students and university staff at Samford University in Birmingham, AL. At $65 million, it is the largest capital project in the school’s history.
It encompasses four projects totaling 165,000 square feet. Seibert Hall will be renovated to include two basketball courts, multi-use court, studios for fitness classes, dance studios, multi-purpose workout area and common spaces. An additional 20,000-square-foot adjacent building will be constructed featuring recreation and event space.
Bashinsky Field House will be renovated to house new training and practice spaces. In addition, the first floor of Dwight and Lucille Beeson Center has been renovated to serve as the new home for the university’s health center and counseling services. The Bashinsky and Seibert renovations and Seibert addition are expected to be completed in the fall of 2024. Additional project partners include Davis Architects, Inc.
