Hoar Construction announced today the groundbreaking for an expansion and renovation at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia. Hoar is serving as the general contractor for the $18.3 million project, which is set to be completed by August 2025 and will include two stories of new operating room space and renovations to the existing outpatient facility.

Crisp Regional Hospital, located at 902 North Seventh Street in Cordele, is the main healthcare provider for the citizens of Crisp County. Hoar will add 15,000 square feet among two stories, including 7,500 square feet of operating suite space. The renovation will update existing admin space, post-op space and the entrance and waiting rooms. The project is set to increase capacity at the hospital and allow for more cases to be handled within the facility.

“We are pleased to play a part in bringing upgraded, quality healthcare facilities to the people of Crisp County, which has long had a need for more hospital space to accommodate a growing population,” said Hardie Kimbrough, project manager at Hoar. “Our commitment to the safety of hospital staff and patients is at the forefront of our work on this project, and we will remain in close communication with Crisp Regional from start to finish. We look forward to collaborating with the hospital’s team on this next chapter of growth for the region’s healthcare system.”

This is the first partnership between Hoar and Crisp Regional. The hospital will stay open and in full operation during construction, requiring significant communication and coordination between itself and the Hoar team. Hoar will be relocating heavy electrical equipment, including generators, from one side of the building to the other, during which Hoar will work with the hospital to shut down electrical units and continue operations while transferring the machinery.

Additional project partners include CDH Partners as the architect, Impact Development Management as the program manager, Walter P Moore as the structural engineer, Columbia Engineering as the civil engineer and NBP Engineers, Inc. as the MEP engineer.

Hoar Construction has established itself as one of the nation’s leading healthcare builders, completing nearly $1.5 billion in healthcare projects over the past 10 years. Within Georgia, Hoar is also working on a two-story rehabilitation hospital for Lifepoint Health in Gainesville, Georgia and another healthcare project in Albany, Georgia.
