Hoar Construction Announces Topping Out at The Loren

by | Aug 25, 2021 | News

Hoar Construction recently celebrated the topping out of The Loren at Lady Bird Lake, an 8-story luxury hotel and condominium building located on West Riverside Drive near downtown Austin, Texas. The ceremony signified the structure reaching its highest point as the final elevated slab is poured on the project.

The Loren spans 225,000 square feet and holds 108 guest rooms in addition to 24 condo units, 2 penthouses, 8,000 square feet of retail space, and 8,500 square feet of restaurant and event space. A rooftop restaurant, luxury spa, swimming pool, and gym will also be available on-site, with hotel guests and condo residents having direct access to the lake. The Loren offers unrivaled views of the Austin skyline and provides a full live-work-play environment in one of the city’s most active neighborhoods.

Construction on the project required several creative solutions to challenges created by the building’s waterfront location, including a deep well watering point system implemented by Hoar that resulted in millions of dollars saved for the owners. Hoar also utilized innovative construction strategies such as building information modeling (BIM) during the initial pre-planning stages to help resolve mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues.

The project is a collaborative effort between Hoar, New York-based Sardis Developments, and architecture firm Rhode Partners. The groundbreaking for the building took place in December 2019, and construction is scheduled to finish in Summer 2022. To learn more about The Loren, click here.
