The 2018/19 strategic plan in Texas continues to center around project diversification, and notable new projects include:
- Uvalde Memorial Hospital in Uvalde, Texas – new 180,000 SF replacement hospital designed by Perkins + Will, scheduled to be complete in late 2020.
- Paloma Ridge Office Building in Austin, Texas – new 165,000 SF, 3-story office building on a partially developed site for Stream Realty Partners.
- Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas – full HVAC system replacement for Aston Hall dormitory, to be completed in 2019 in the 12-week student summer break.
- Seton Northwest Hospital in Austin, Texas – infrastructure renovation to five operating rooms and two C-section rooms for Seton Healthcare Family.
Additional new work includes multifamily and large-scale commercial projects, working with key developers and owners.
Though this substantial amount of work has landed within a short period of time, Brian Cook, managing director of Hoar’s Texas Division says it is the result of efforts over the past several years. “It comes down to relationships, and we’re thankful to have done a variety of projects for some of these same owners in the past,” Cook said. “Our first priority is delivering value to our clients. This builds the trust needed for us to earn another project with that owner, and we are constantly focused on earning that trust.”
Last quarter Hoar also added 20 new staff members, including two healthcare industry veterans. Senior Project Manager Roger Tighe and Project Executive Craig Glenn, both with deep portfolios of Texas Medical Center work. Tighe and Glenn will be instrumental in leading the new healthcare team Hoar formed this year to leverage their national experience in urban health centers and rural critical-access hospitals. Brian Chobot was also promoted to senior project manager and Adam Lloyd to preconstruction manager, both with a healthcare focus. The two were key members in the success of the recently completed Houston Methodist Hospital Clear Lake central utility plant expansion.
In 2017, Hoar was No. 11 on the Houston Business Journal’s list of largest local general contractors, with $201.74 million in local billings and $860.42 million in gross billing across the country.
