Construction of Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport’s first parking garage will begin on Monday with a portion of Lovell Field’s short-term lot closed to the public, according to officials.

The economy lot will be closed as construction of the $25 million, 1,300 space parking facility starts. An alternative entrance across from baggage claim will remain open.

Long-term parking lots and the short-term parking lot entrance on Airport Road are unaffected by the start of construction. Work on the parking facility is anticipated to be complete within a year with a focus on minimizing disruption, according to the airport.

The design-build team includes Hoar Construction, MBI Companies, American Structural Concrete, International Parking Design, and Culp & Tanner Structural Engineers.
